Hobbyist and Handpieces

Hobbyists and Handpieces
Hobbyist's Question:

Are dental handpieces not dental handpieces when they are used for shining the bumper on your collector vehicle?

Highspeed Dental Handpieces can run at up close to 500,000rpm: making handpieces an excellent tool for the hobbyist, artist, or craftspersons of many different 'arts' or vocations. You can take the slightest 'cut' or grind a lot of material off. With the proper 'wheel' instead of a bur, you can polish the smallest crevices. With small burs you can do incredible detail work on the smallest objects in stone, metals, wood, ceramics, and nearly every other natural or artificial substance. They make Dremel tools look like child's toys with the speed output and the touch that you can use, or with the amount of material that you can remove in a REAL hurry.

Unfortunately, warrantees on repairs and overhauls as stated by the repair companies are generally for dental handpieces that are USED as dental handpieces, whether on humans or animals: and not for hobbyists or professions other than medical, dental or veterinarian professions and professionals.

You may, in the list of repair entities listed here, find a few that will grant you a warrantee of some nature, depending on the use of the dental handpiece, but it will be individually agreed to by you and them at the time of repair.

The maintenance of your handpiece is important. Instructions are in this site on how to maintain any type in a generic fashion.

Regular and proper maintenance and lubrucation of your handpieces, with a quality lubricant such as EZ lube Onestep, is critically inportant to keep them in good condition.
